We Care Bags

In partnership with Cleveland Metropolitan School District Civics 2.0 Democracy in Action Program we are preparing care bags to deliver families who have lost loved ones due to gun violence.

Civics 2.0 is an authentic learning experience that prepares students for active citizenship by immersing them in a civics “laboratory” experience where they learn, practice, and apply their knowledge of civic engagement. Students are advocating for or against issues important to them and their communities. Due to the surge of shootings and guns being brought to schools, students developed action plans to address gun violence. One middle school and one high school class developed action plans that include creating informative, nourishing, and helpful care packages for families who have lost loved ones due to gun violence.

The goal is to deliver care bags shortly after the life changing event to help survivors navigate the challenges associated with the crime and/or loss of a loved one. The packages will include resources for grief, trauma recovery, and support along with personal care products health and wellness products, household items and we hope to include food gift cards.

While we hope the number of bags needed will decrease, the average number of deaths due to guns in Cleveland, Ohio for the period 2020- 2021 is 218.

If you would like to support this project, email us at mpactheworld@att.net for a list of items and/or select Donate to access our GoFundMe page.

Thank you for your support.
